The Board of Directors takes an active role in the leadership of the District and has empowered District employees to become partners in the Fire and Life Safety system. The Board exercises the highest standards of conduct, and takes decisive action coupled with compassion and understanding of the communities’ needs.

Board Meetings: Typically held the first Wednesday of each month at 6:00 p.m.  (occasional changes made due to holidays.) The meetings are held at the Novato Fire District, Fire Station 61, located at 7025 Redwood Blvd.

Meeting Schedule

As needed, on the third Wednesday of each month, study sessions and special meetings may be held for the purpose of addressing specific issues such as revenue development and final budget approval.  The community is invited to attend and participate in the Board meetings. Public comments are accepted at the beginning of each meeting.  You may email the Board of Directors at: board@novatofire.org

Director Davis was appointed to the Board of Directors in October of 2015 to fill an open Director position.

Director Davis is a retired registered nurse who served in the emergency departments at Kaiser Hospital and Novato Community Hospital. He served on disaster preparedness teams and as a labor negotiator. He is very active in the Marin Valley community in disaster preparedness.

James Galli

Director Galli has served on the Board of Directors since his election in 2007. He was recently re-elected to a four year term in November of 2015.

President Galli is a retired Battalion Chief from the Kentfield Fire Protection District with more than 30 years of fire service experience.

Director Silverman

Director Silverman has served on the Board of Directors since his election in 2003. He was recently re-elected to a 4 year term in November of 2015.

Director Silverman is a retired Firefighter/Paramedic and has worked as a medical technician in a local hospital emergency department.

Board Member Steve Metcho

Director Metcho was elected in November of 2015 to serve a 4 year term.

Director Metcho is a 30 year veteran of the fire service who retired from the Novato Fire District. He served previously on our Board of Directors from 2003-2007 and as Board President in 2005.

Skip Fenner

Director Fenner has served on the Board of Directors since his appointment in June of 2014. He was recently re-elected to a 2 year term in November of 2015.

Worth “Skip” Fenner is a retired insurance broker with many years of successful experience in business, finance, and serving on a Board of Directors. Director Fenner is a past President of the Novato Chamber of Commerce.

Despite the Board’s many challenges including declining revenues, a changing workforce and greater public expectations, insightful and progressive policies reflecting the Board’s vision, values, and goals are implemented by District Staff.

The Board is active with other political bodies to achieve collective action to best serve our citizens. The Board of Directors takes advantage of and creates opportunities to make a difference for the citizens they serve.
