Novato Fire District Explorer Post 0061

Fire Exploring is a cooperative program between the Novato Fire District and the Learning for Life Organization. Once a year, the Fire District seeks candidates to fill a few vacancies in this competitive youth program serving the communities of Novato. Explorers will learn about the Fire Service and the careers it offers.

 Fire Explorers

Fire Exploring provides experiences to help young people mature and prepare them in becoming responsible and caring adults. In the process they will learn the in’s and out’s of the Fire District and work side by side with Professional Firefighters and Paramedics serving the communities of Novato. Explorers will get the chance to serve their community and learn the proper use of equipment and tools, ladder techniques, wildland firefighting procedures and more.

The program is open to young men and women who are ages 15 1/2 to 21 years old. Color, race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, ethnic background, economic status, or citizenship are not criteria for participation. The Explorer Program will help participants:

  • Prepare for College and the Fire Academy
  • Earn Valuable Life Experience
  • Earn Community Service Hours
  • Add to your College Application & Job Resume
