Applications and Permits:
The Fire Code Official is authorized to receive applications, review construction documents, and issue permits for construction regulated by the fire code, issue permits for operations regulated by the fire code, inspect premises for which such permits have been issued, and enforce compliance with provisions of the fire code.
Permits required by the fire code shall be obtained from the Novato Fire District. Permit fee deposits, if any, shall be paid at the time of application. Issued permits shall be kept on the premise designated therein at all times and shall be readily available for inspection by the Fire Code Official.
There are two types of permits as follows:
1. Operational Permit: Allows the applicant to conduct an operation or a business for which a permit is required for either a prescribed period of time, or until renewed or revoked.
2. Construction Permit: Allows the applicant to install or modify systems or equipment for which a permit is required.
Permit Application Submittal:
A permit application and fee deposits are required at time of submittal. Three sets of construction documents shall be submitted. Construction documents shall be prepared by a registered design professional; drawn to scale upon suitable material; and shall be of sufficient clarity to indicate the location, nature, and extent of the work proposed, and show in detail that it will conform to the provisions of the code and relevant laws, ordinances, standards, rules, and regulations, as deemed by the Fire Code Official.
