Station 61 is staffed by:
- Battalion Chief, a 3-person Engine Company (Engine 61), and a 2-person Advanced Life Support ambulance (Medic 61).
- The Engine 61 crew also cross-staffs our water tender (WT61), which has a capacity of more than 2000 gallons to deliver water to more rural areas of the district where crews may be met with limited access to fire hydrants.
- Station 61 also houses a reserve Type 1 engine, reserve Type 3 engine, and reserve ALS ambulance.
- The Battalion Chief operates out of a rapid response command vehicle that can easily access areas on incidents that have limited access for engines and ambulances due to their large size.
- Station 61 is home to the busiest units in the Fire District.
Station 61 also houses the Jeffrey A. Meston Fire Museum.
-
The museum is open to the public during Fire Prevention month and by appointment.
-
It recalls the history of the Novato Fire Protection District and contains numerous displays of historical firefighting memorabilia.
-
It also pays tribute to the nearly 100 years of service the fire district has provided our community and contains hundreds of pictures, memorabilia, and artifacts which help tell our story.
