Novato Fire Protection District Names Battalion Chief Dan Peters as New Fire Chief

NOVATO, CA – The Novato Fire Protection District Board of Directors is proud to announce the selection of Battalion Chief Dan Peters as the next Fire Chief of Novato Fire. With over 29 years of service, Chief Peters brings seasoned leadership and a proven commitment to advancing Novato Fire’s mission.

“Dan Peters has been a dedicated leader in this district for over two decades, demonstrating operational excellence and a strong commitment to our firefighters and the community,” said Bruce Goines, President of the Board of Directors. “His leadership, integrity, and vision will guide Novato Fire into the future.”

Peters has served as Battalion Chief, Captain, and Firefighter/Paramedic. He has played a key role in numerous initiatives, including coordinating Novato Fire’s first Reserve program and contributing to committees focused on research and development, safety, cancer prevention, and health and wellness. He also served four terms as President and Vice President of the Novato Professional Firefighters Association and was a member of the USAR Cal-EMA Regional Taskforce for Marin for 14 years.

As Fire Chief, Peters will prioritize financial management, workforce engagement, and advancing the district’s role in the Marin Wildfire Prevention Authority initiative.

“Coming from a family of firefighters, I am honored to lead Novato Fire and continue our mission of protecting and serving the community,” said Peters. “I look forward to working alongside our dedicated team to build on our strong foundation.”

Chief Peters will be officially sworn in during an upcoming Board of Directors meeting, with the date to be announced.
