 2nd alarm fire ignacio 12.22.25

Novato, CA — On Monday night, December 22, 2025, at approximately 9:30 pm, Novato Fire responded to a structure fire at an apartment complex in the 400 block of Ignacio Boulevard.

Firefighters arrived to find heavy fire conditions in a 3rd floor apartment unit. All occupants were evacuated safely out of the building. A second alarm was requested to support fire attack, search, and truck company operations.

Engine crews made an interior attack while truck crews conducted vertical ventilation to improve conditions and clear smoke from the structure. These coordinated efforts allowed firefighters to knock down the fire and confine it to the unit of origin.

Ignacio Boulevard was briefly shut down to allow fire operations to take place safely and was managed by our law enforcement partners on scene.

Primary and secondary searches were completed, and one individual was evaluated by the paramedics. Utilities were secured, and several residents that were displaced were assisted by the American Red Cross.

Novato Fire would like to thank San Rafael Fire Department, Marinwood Fire, Kentfield Fire District, Novato Police Department, the Marin County Fire Investigation Team and utility providers for their assistance. No firefighter injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
