This year marks a significant milestone for the Novato Fire District as it celebrates 100 years of service to the community.

 Established on July 6, 1926, the Novato Fire Protection District has grown alongside the community, evolving from a local fire agency into a modern all-hazard emergency response organization while remaining committed to its mission of caring for, protecting, and serving Novato and the surrounding areas.

Today, Novato Fire District provides fire suppression, emergency medical services, rescue response, fire prevention, public education, and wildfire preparedness programs throughout the City of Novato and surrounding unincorporated areas of Marin County. While much has changed since 1926, the District's commitment to public service remains the same.

The Centennial provides an opportunity to reflect on the District's history, the evolution of fire and emergency services in Novato, and the many firefighters, volunteers, support staff, board members, retirees, and community members who have helped shape the organization over the past 100 years.

One of the highlights of the District's Centennial celebration was a special recognition during the July 1 Board of Directors meeting. The event brought together elected officials, agency partners, and community leaders to honor a century of service to the Novato community. The District was recognized by Marin County Supervisors Eric Lucan and Dennis Rodoni, Congressman Jared Huffman, City of Novato Mayor Rachael Farac, Novato Police Chief Jim Naugle, and representatives from many of the organizations that have partnered with the District throughout its history.

Throughout the remainder of the year, residents can celebrate alongside the District during the Novato Fourth of July Parade, National Night Out, and the annual Pancake Breakfast on October 18.

To commemorate this milestone, the District has also created a Centennial History Video. Community members are invited to watch the video and learn more about the District's legacy of service.

The Novato Fire District extends its gratitude to the community for its continued support over the past 100 years and looks forward to continuing its mission of service throughout its next century.
