The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) has released updated 2025 Fire Hazard Severity Zone (FHSZ) maps. These maps classify areas within Novato’s Local Responsibility Area (LRA) as moderate, high, or very high fire hazard zones.

The updated designations aim to support local planning, building code enforcement, insurance considerations, and wildfire risk mitigation efforts.

The Novato Fire Protection District received these maps on February 24, 2025, and is sharing them with the public in accordance with California Government Code Sections 51178 and 51179.
